Hi Roger,

If your OE Bosch valve lasted 93k miles, then my first suggestion is to buy another. Several folks have found these valves on-line for less than $30. Then, consider it a maintenance item & replace it every 60k miles (before it fails), or wait until it fails again in another 90k.

The "improved" Bosch part is really only better at lightening your wallet (see the link inside my link), so IMO it makes more sense to buy a rebuildable valve at that point. Both the Forge & Stratmosphere valves use Mobil 1 syn grease, & both valves operate perfectly fine in cold weather. (I'm sorry to say, any comments otherwise are pure speculation.) Also, Forge offers a selection of springs for simple, bomb-proof valve adjustability.

The advantage to these valves is that both can be cleaned & regreased, keeping operation consistant. The disadvantage to these valves is that both need to be cleaned & regreased, requiring regular maintenance. At $30 every 90k miles, the Bosch wins for cost & convenience.
