If you and the indie knows for sure that the leak is from engine cover, you can always try with "JB weld", but I don't have high hopes for it so seal properly because it's very difficult to clean off all the oil before applying the epoxi.
The leak could very well be from the cylinder head gasket (right where head meets engine cover).
The only way to find out is to clean the area carefully with brake cleaner and pour some leak dye into the engine oil. Start and warm up the engine while studying the area under "black light".
It can still be difficult to determine the leak IF the oil comes out right at the crack between head and cover, but if that's the case I would more suggest a head gasket instead of the engine cover.
