Thanks for the link. For the record, I want to correct something you wrote: the V1 is "detector-detector safe". That is true for the original VG-2 radar detector detectors because those picked up the LO leakage from the standand radar detector, most of which are all based on the original design Bell came up with a long time ago. The V1 uses a different local ossicilator setup so it wasn't detected by the VG-2. Most departments that have detector-detectors have this; however, a new DD is on the market - The Spectre and it WILL and DOES pick up the V1. They're still not very common but they will find your V1. Valentine hasn't updated the V1 in a while, so I'm hoping the next itteration will correct this.

As for laser detector, I believe it's a moot point. If your laser detector detects laser it because the laser is already ON your car. You're already done for. There is no warning from the laser bouncing off cars in front of you as in radars, so notification of laser operation probably won't help you. Maybe someone could add more to this discussion. I have heard that because laser is controlled by the FDA, there are no laws against laser jammers, as there are in radar jammers. Radar jammers can be blocked by the FCC because you can't legally just broadcast any signal you want to. I've seen laser jammers (which supposedly work quite well) for sale but they're about $400. I'd love to know the legality of these devices. I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before they're also made illegal.
