I recently was required to change my AAA membership from Western New York (Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse) to the Binghamton-Elmira "club". This was about the same time as my new car warranty was nearing an end. AAA in Western NY has an extended warranty available through a third party entity [which by the way failed to respond to my quiries about where their home office was geographically located, what jurisdiction or regulatory agency they might be regulated by, and where their financial health might be assessed.] I was interested, but given the recent bankruptcy of a major provider of such coverage, I did not jumb before the required membership change. The new AAA charges more per year, and it provides far fewer benefits. Since their web site did not reveal any extended coverage, I emailed them. The response was less than useful. This AAA has no connection to and does not offer or regularly refer to any extended coverage plans. They did refer me to the Saab dealer near them, and from whom the car was purchased and to a business in Ithaca NY that no longer does any such business. My Saab dealer has told me repeatedly since the car was purchased that no extended coverage whatsoever was available through them, never intimating that GM has any such coverage. Trying to find information from GM, at least on the web, is pretty futile exercise as well. I do know that some of the local GM dealers have been selling third party coverage on used vehicles sold by them, at least vehicles that are non-GM. So, my vehicle is just out of coverage, and no extended warranty seems reasonably available.
