I am picking up my new leased 2001 aero on friday. There are great deals out there currently (although the deals on the LPT and the v6 are superior -- SAAB must have a larger amount of inventory of those models).
In any event, I was able to negotiate:
-- Below Invoice pricing (one dealer offered $500 off invoice, one offered $250 off invoice, and two could not even offer invoice)
-- 3.9% annualized interest rate on the lease
--36 months, 12k miles / yr
-- no money down (other than taxes, registration, aquisition fee $495, etc -- no capital reduction down in other words). Security deposit of one months payment was waived due to credit worthiness.
-- for the Aero lease, SAAB is offering dealers $3000 incentive -- effectively, my price is $3000 below invoice IF I lease the car -- If I buy the car, my price is invoice.
-- Monthly payments total $500 or so. If you put down $1,000 cap reduction, it lowers your payment by about $30 / month.
Hope this helps. Speak to numerous dealers in your area. The most aggressive will be the ones with the exact car, model, color, options, etc. that you seek in their lot. I think they are worried about excessive inventory.
Also, like I said above, the deals on the base model and the v6 model are superior. Basically, you can buy the aero outright at invoice today, or lease it for 36 months, make payments and buy it at the end of the lease for total payments of invoice. For the base and the v6, SAAB incentives work out that you actually SAVE money by leasing the car and buying it after the lease expires. The current incentives expire at months end and you take a risk if you don't pull the trigger now -- the new June incentives might be better or worse.... I decided I liked the current deal, it fit my budget, and I will be driving an Aero as of Friday!
