Around the shifter base, there is a rubber trim piece. Slide your finger around that, and it will unclip fairly easily.
Remove the ashtray, and you will see the ashtray housing. There are two clips on the upper part of the ashtray recess that you need to lever down slightly to remove the ashtray housing. Once removed, there are 2 x Torx screws. Undo those, and remove the piece of dash that surrounds the gear shifter.
Next, remove the Climate control unit, Radio Unit and SID. Remove the metal cage that the radio slides into. There are 3x (maybe 4) further torx screws now visible. Remove these. Where the light switch is on the dash, there is a rectangular plastic fascia piece. Unclip this by using a fine screwdriver to reveal the remaining torx screws that hold in the dash. Firmly tug on the base of the dash either side of the steering wheel to unclip two hidden fixings. The dash is now ready to be removed. However, you'll need to pop out the electrical switches, and disconnect them from the loom.
You are now almost done - once the dash is obviously loose, the air vent ducts make it difficult to remove from behind the wheel. If you can unclip these from the rear of the dash, your life will be made much easier. Then wriggle the dash out from behind the wheel. Refit in reverse order of removal :)
It's not difficult once you've done it once. Be very careful about flexing the wood dash or you risk cracking/lifting the lacquer. (Don't ask how I know, but suffice it to say, I saw it happen on the Carbon Fibre dash!)
