Recently there was a post here about how to replace cabin air filter (ACC+CabinHeater). Thanks to everyone who responded at that time, it was very helpful. Although I was not the originator on that message in the past, it helped me very much with dismantaling.
HOWEVER! Thinks are not so easy boys. SAAB made several upgrades on that filter. I have 99' 9-5 with serial number less than 300 (assembeled first days of January 1999). The old style is separate polen filer and separate charcoal filter. From other hand the new style is integrated filter (one unit).
The conclusion: YOU HAVE TO REMOVE NOT ONLY THE OLD FILTERS BUT ASLO THE PLASTIK FRAME HOLDER OF THE OLD FILTERS. THIS IS MADE BY MEANS OF BRAKING APART THE OLD FILTER FRAME/HOUSING AND RIPPING OUT ON PIECES. After that you have to insert the new style filter in the space left. Foam piece goes first on the top and after that the filter slices inside below the foam piece.
By my knowledge there is no service buletin for that case.
Any other opinions please?
Thank you in advance.
