Yep....My indie mechanic thinks it is a sure fire way for Saab to have customers coming back to the dealer for oil changes (or engine rebuilds..)!!! Anyone tried dipping or spray painting the stupid thing with white, yellow or Day-Glopaint? Have to find a paint or other coating that's heat and oil proof and actually sticks to the plastic if properly prepped. Perhaps the paint or even a light colored plastic dipstick end would just end up getting permanently stained and just as worthless. How about an old fashioned metal stick with cross hatching in the safe range? Anybody from Saab/GM ever bother to think about solving this critical problem??!!
