What to Remove?

Does anybody know what the trick is to getting an Etorx10 socket past the hoses and lines and finally to the bolts securing the thermostat housing? V6
I have a standard size ET10 socket and several extension lengths. The socket's diameter is too large to squeeze into the available space? Will simply removing the hose from the radiator create the necessary space? Any advice about what to remove that makes the space larger or special type of socket?
