3 things to do before going to the trans. shop.
1. Replace PCV valve.
2. Clean the throttle body
3. Trans. fluid
I replaced the fluid thinking it was worn out. Then the engine stalled some time later, so I cleaned the TB. The symptoms you described persisted. Not until I replaced the PCV valve did the car respond as desired. It feels strong and tight, like new. Good luck. Directions for each have been posted.
