That was me, and as a result I was without the car for the 3 days it took the dealer to get the harness shipped in.
When my car wouldn't start, and smelled of burnt expoxy, I removed the DI and the next day walked into the dealers service mgr. and placed it on his desk. Although 9k out of warranty, Saab goodwilled the repair, but oddly enough would do so only if the car was towed in with the bad DI put back (check da plugs). I reconnected the wiring harness (mistake) and the tow truck operator left the ignition on for the ride, and the harness was completley melted, never blew the fuse. The tow cost me over $ 200, pretty close to cost of a used DI, and Saab refused to reimburse me for the tow.
So whose responsibility is it if your transmission is damaged ? I think ultimately Saab and the questionable use of CD ignition technology, which makes ignition reliability a crapshoot in the 9-5.
