Given the current level of incentives I was quite interested to see what replacing my 2001 stickshift Aero Wagon would run to. Went to the dealer and was quite surprised to find that such a beast is now extremely rare! The only locatable one in the US was hundreds of miles away, and that had more equipment than I wanted (Manual transmission but automatic wipers - nobody see a contradiction there...).

The only way it could be done was by ordering from sweden. 3 problems with this (aprt from the 3 month delay)
1. Incentives available at time of delivery would be applied.
2. Trade in value would be assesed at time of delivery.
3. Big 'non-refundable' depost required (ie refundable only when they sell the car if i didnt want it/like the final numbers).

I have a big problem signing a deal without all the figures nailed down, and the question over trade in value was especially worrisome. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do.

To be honest it seemed like the dealer didnt seem interested (and this is the biggest dealer in IL, and the USA apparently).
Id have thought the purchase price inc incentives could be frozen at time of order, and the trade in could be negotiated then too, with parameters for mileage for the remaining 3 months set up. Guess its too dificult compared to moving out the iron in the lot.
