I've been considering some of the mods you mention, and found out the following:
1. Magellan sells a nav system like the Hertz "Neverlost" (which I find works quite well). This can be professionally installed and looks good in the car with no wires hanging around. Total price - around $2,500 installed. My advice is to get the portable Maggellan for around $1,000 and have it hot wired. Works the same and is portable from car to car. Also check Garmin and Alpine, they have units too.
2. It's easy to install certain cell phones in the Saab, they sell the connector and you can DIY or get a professional to do it for you.
3. I would not even try On-Star, it will probably be less costly to trade your car in and get a later model with it already installed.
4. You could install the dimming mirror with compass and Home link in your car, I hear it costs around $500 total.
5. Your car should have heated mirrors already, they come on when you activate the rear window defroster. If they don't work, something is broken.
If you really want On Star, my advice is to trade for a car that already has it and at the same time get one with the Home Link too. There is no factory nav system for the 9-5 so you have to go aftermarket.
Good luck and keep us posted on what you do.
