2002 Aero. I assume they're the same.

You're right, its under the RF fender- I did it when I changed my oil so the car was off the ground anyhow. I imagine it would be a bit tight if the car was on the ground.

I found I needed to take the corner bolt from the plastic body fascia (you'll see what I'm talking about once you get to it- its a torx) so I could move it aside to get the cover off. IIRC, there was 4 screws holding the cover on. Once you get those loosened, then pull down on the front and the back of the cover to get it off. You'll need a bit of patience to manoever it out, but it is possible. The main thing is the filter sits on a hub which means the cover and filter come off at the same time which is convenient for re-assembly but a bit of a pain in the ass getting it on and off. I wonder if the Linear or Arc without the extra body bits has this problem?

I replaced my filter with a K&N. Not really a noticeable difference but every bit counts. For those who think they'll get a noticeable difference in performance for $50 they should just buy $50 worth of drugs. Main thing for me is its re-useable and for the price of two Saab filters you can buy a K&N (you still have to buy filter oil and cleaner when its time to clean it though)It will help though overall if you're after performance. I found a more noticeable difference when I installed my Hyperboost BPV ($150)

My car was at 60K kms when I changed the filter which I assume has been in there since day one. Didn't look too bad, but there was a bunch of rocks/bugs stuck in the pleats. Be sure to clean out the tray that the filter sits on. Mine had quite a bit of stuff in it.

If you don't have a good set of torx drivers and you plan on working on this car then get one. I got a decent set at Canadian Tire for a reasonable amount of money.

Have fun!
