The SID is a friciton fit into the dash. No screws, clips, or latches of any kind. Some people have been able to pry theirs out of the dash using a slim blade. Mine was too tight to come out that way.
The factory instructions say to remove the radio first. This is done by inserting two "DIN Radio Removal Tools" into the four holes in the front of the radio, exerting slight outward pressure on the tools, and pulling the radio straight towards you while you sit in the driver's seat. Parked of course. Tools are available from WalMart for $4USD, sold in the car audio section.
Once the radio is out of the dash, just reach through the opening and grasp the back of the SID unit. Pull it straight towards you. Although only a friction fit, it may still require a mighty yank to free it. Don't be afraid to pull hard.
One wiring harness on the rear. Instructions complete with photos are available on this site to perform a D-I-Y repair to fix the display. Only requires a $1 worth of foam weatherstripping tape. Didn't work for me because I pulled the ribbon cable completely free of the circuit board by accident when dismantling the SID on my dining table.
A "new" unit will be $250 from site sponsors, most are actually factory reconditioned units. You will need to reset all your SID inputs after replacing the unit (date, year, etc.). A calibration with a Tech-II is necessary if you plan on using the fuel mileage, distance to empty, and automatic pre-heater options of the SID.
