Take the extra hour or so and change the pulley. While you're at it, consider changing the belt while you have things pulled apart.
The directions previously posted to this board are excellent. I have the WIS for the 9-5 and found the directions on here to be easier to follow, except I didn't even bother locking the tensioner in place with a nail (the WIS says to use a 3 mm hex key). Instead I opened it up as needed. I was able to drive my friend's '99 SE 2.3 two miles from cold start to my house/garage.
