I suspect you're right about the shaft/CV joint.... Usually they make a "clicking" or "clunking" sound when they go bad... and its usually more prominent on turns... Try to pay special attention as you take the car into gradual and tight turns, and whether it happens on left vs. right turns... I believe the inner wheel on the turn takes the stress ... so pay particular attention on left turns....
Also.. you may want to take the car to a parking lot.. and try some of the same moves in reverse and see if the sound more prominent prior to going to the dealer...
The good news is that its easily reproduced .. so I would be fairly certain they should be able to address it...
