Homelink Wireless System

My 2003 95 has the Homelink Wireless system built into the rearview mirror. I've been trying to program it to open up my garage door with no luck. My garage door opener is a Genie Intellicode....I assume this is the rolling code. I looked at the Genie website and found out how to put the GD Opener in Learn mode, I then tried programming the homelink by holding down one of the buttons but it didn't take. Does anyone have any suggestions?; Am I supposed to use the remote that came with the GD Opener to program the homelink, while in Learn mode?
Any help is much appreciated.
