9-5 vs A6

As a owner of two 9-5's (and a 9000cse for 9 years) I enjoy owning Saab's, I also have a chance to drive my parents A6, most recently while visiting over the holidays. Here are some back to back comparisons and observations:
The A6 interior has a much higher level of fit/finish and the car has an overall more upscale feel to it. Very smooth drivetrain and quiet on the highway. While the car is short on power, although not as much as I remembered, its abilility to cruise at freeway speeds is good. Love the heated steering wheel. The A6 auto does seem to be eager to down shift and can cause the engine to run at higher rev's (and noise level). Overall the ride is similar but the Audi handles better. They have 75k on the car, and have had minimal service/warranty issues. Certaintly no more that I have experienced with the 9-5,maybe less. The 9-5 has an edge in MPG.
If the ave selling price of the Audi and Saab were similar (the Saab's always have $$ incentives and are fantastic used car values) the edge would go to the Audi. It truely belongs in the lux catagory where the Saab would be on the edge, being a little short when compared to either the Audi or 5 series. The Saab would win on value and being a unique offering in the marketplace.
