If you are planning on keeping the car for a long time, regular oil changes are a wise idea.
Typically moisture is the enemy of engine internals if the car is not frequently driven. Oil needs to get fully hot in order for the moisture to burn off. This is more of a problem if you live in a humid climate like a coastal area. But weekly drives should mitigate this problem.
IMHO oil changes are about the cheapest maintenance for your car so looking at it from a long term perspective, I think a 4 month interval is prudent. Could you go longer? Probably, but only an oil analysis can determine that accurately. Perhaps a wise oil change schedule would be just before winter, just after winter, and sometime during the summer months of bingo parlors, Geritol runs, and the 4PM "early bird" dinners at the Waffle House.
