What is your residual? What year is your car? What is the blue book value vs your residual price? All these things are factors. It surprises me that they are not even able to give you a little better price than what your residual is. Back in April of 2002 the lease on my 9-3 was ending, Saab was willing to take $1500 off my residual price. I ended up taken advantage of the early termination of my lease ( they waved three months of my lease) to get into a new 9-5 Linear which is what I am driving now. I am now considering buying my 2002 Linear at the end of my lease (April of 2005). My residual is about $16,000 which is not a bad number for a three year old 9-5 with normal mileage (12,000 a year). BUT I will sill want negotiate something otherwise we move on. It is all a matter of economics. By the time my three old car id due, I will have another year of warranty left. So the only way that it might make sense to buy the car is we perhaps keep it for another three years or more. So with that in mind, you would hope that maybe they can give you an extended warranty, which is anywhee between $1000 to $1800. We all know how expensive these cars are to fix. Then you might need new tires and brakes, which is another $500 to $800. This is where it make sense to be able to get a better deal, otherwise, you might as well look for another lease or to buy another car. When you add all these factors to my numbrs, I am looking at $16,000 + say $1500 for an extended warranty plus $800 for tires brakes and brakes plus another $1000 in taxes to buy the car. That is a total of about $20,000 of finacing to be done for a three year old car. So it make sense to try to get something out of Saab. Whether it is a better price or an extended warranty. I do not know about lease insurance. they used to be able to negotiate. that I do know. Saab is hurting and they don't have a big market for this cars.
