Hi-
Usually cold weather can cause resistance values in the electronics to register high. This can set off a code.
Turn your car off and turn on the ignition so all of the lights on the dash light up. Wait until everything else on the dash goes out and then the Check Engine light will start blinking. Count the number of blinks and compare it to the list at the following link:
http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9000/index.html?bID=134742
I have a 94 and if I unhook the battery for a couple of minutes it resets the code, and often times it is the end of the problem for me. I have heard in later cars this will not work and the computer has to be reset.
A "real" problem that I have head is with the coolant temperature sensor (four blinks). This started happening in cold weather last winter and had to be replaced. I got away with it for awhile, but after ignoring it for too long the car starting running real rought at low speeds and stalled at idle. Best to get that one fixed, but for my own car I would not hesitate to disconnect the battery once and see if the problem goes away.
Hope this helps a bit.
Mike
