2000 SE Instrument irregularities in dashboad

I have a 2000 SE wagon that was imported from Canada. The odometer conversion was done by a non-Saab dealer before I purchased it. Something got messed up in either the dashboard removal or the conversion, as the turbo needle and the lights illuminating the tachometer and the "80 mph" zone on the speedometer don't work (tach and speedometer work great, they're just partially dark when driving at night - and the turbo works great, it's the needle that doesn't indicate. Previous owner says they all worked when he turned the car in from lease). My Saab dealer told me in order to fix the turbo needle it would take $1600 for a new main instrument unit (computer) to be replaced in the dash. Obviously it's not worth $1600 for this, but I was wondering if anybody had heard of this, and might know if I could open up the dash and just replace the tach and speedometer light bulbs myself? Is it difficult to take the dash off? Thank you!!!!
