Just to borrow the old dirty harry line, but did not want to insult by using the p word.
DI is a big piece of automotive do do, but I would venture that your odds of experiencing an early milage failure would be exceptionaly low, particularily in moderate temps.
On the other hand, as the car racks up miles, many consider a spare a wise investment for those drivers that are breakdown adverse (mine gave it up on 285 in the mtns, stranding family in the evening hrs) . So your decision when best to pull the trigger.
I sincerely doubt that much has/can be done to improve this example of poor application of technology, just way too many heat sensitive components involved. But while others rush to it's defense and claim that it is better, the ultimate resolution is not too far away when it will be replaced by more conventional design, which by the way is what every other maker continues to use.
