I was never a big fan of Onstar. However, a couple weeks ago while I was on a solo trip with a stop in Death Valley, my wife had to get hold of me for a family emergency. I didn't have Onstar phone, and my cell didn't work there, so it wasn't until the awesome folks in Stovepipe Wells tracked me down (I was hiking in Mosaic Canyon at the time) that I got the message. Had I had Onstar, I would have gotten the message about 5 hours earlier and 200 miles closer to home, allowing me to return that night rather then the next day. Realizing this, I now recognize the value in Onstar. I'll only use it for emergencies (no "Honey, pick up some bread" usage), but will retain it.
