I am the second owner of a 2001 9-5 Aero. Since I bought the car (about 3000 mi. ago), it has had "Champiro" 225-45R17 tires on it. One of these tires is appearently somewhat egg shaped, and cannot be balanced.

I have never heard of this tire brand, but I get the impression that it is a tire that the "tuners" use when they need a cheap low-profile tire. Actually they seem at least OK to me. They handle well, and are pretty good wrt noise. And yes, they look nice on my Ronal's.

I live in "Sunny" Florida, so wet performance is important. By Saab enthusiast standards, I am a fairly mellow driver, but of course I would like a tire that is not going to misbehave when I use that next curve or off ramp to remind myself why I drive a 9-5 Aero.

The car is driven daily at --- Well... "at speed".

As far as wear, I understand what type of tire I am talking about. I just don't want it to go egg shaped or lumpy when it still has half the tread on it.

Noise is also a primary concern. Luxury comes first in luxury sports sedan.

Should I even try to find 2 "Champiro"'s (and put the 2 best remaining on the back)?

Next up would be the Kumho's. Given that they are a cheap performance tire, I have read good things about them.

I usually prefer Michelin, but in this type of tire I have heard that they are noisy.

Other conciderations include Continental, Pirelli, and Yokohama.

Thanks

--- CrossBow
