Well, I don't agree with your suggestion that the Aero having just different suspension and nameplate as a base model. They had the 2.3t before the Aero, but before that a 9000 Aero with a little extra HP and NM added, it made the 2.3t feel slow. And riding in the country with a lot of 2 lane winding roads...you would definitely want the Aero's power and handling for overtaking and such...I'm not talking about a couple of "snowbirds" here, my parents are in their early 50's and do vintage rallying in a Saab in their spare time....and they drive a manual NOT an automatic (even in Europe it seems more and more common these days to get a sporty car with a non-sporty automatic....)
They never had problems with the ride height of the 9000 Aero, but I guess getting rid of the front spoiler to start with would make a difference. BUt all competitor brands seem to offer in-car adjustable suspension, especially for their top performance models....you'd expect the same thing from Saab, but even Hirsch doesn't have it.....
...and by the way, I don't think people (in general) who have driven Saabs all their working life care about bragging rights or panache of a name plate....that's more a german car thing ;-)
