when I trying to decide how to upgrade my MY'99.

What I believe (lumping lots of different sources and slightly different stories from credible sources in saab, eibach, etc)is that Saab originally sourced springs from a different vendor for the 9-5's.

Many of the early 9-5's ended up w/substandard springs, and there was non recall to fix some of these (I believe my car should have been done). Saab switched to Eibach as a vendor for the springs.

Eibach makes all sorts of springs, and supplied both the base, V6, and aero springs after the changeover. So the eibach name reference is not enough to clarify which spring you have.

The problem in verifing whether the Eibach pro kit springs and oem aero springs is finding out the difference in height and spring rates between the two. This quickly became hard to verify from either source. I would guess that the eibach kits offered by eibach, nordic, abbott, etc are the same or fairly similiar, but if you ask the nordic abbott types, they will claim (or used to) that their kits are to their specifications (which may or may not be the same!)

Since the suspension changed significantly in 2002, and the newer parts were not compatible with my older car, I ended up with OEM '01 aero springs & bilstiens, as well as the newer '02+ sway bars. The improvement is dramatic, but not as low as the eibach on the earlier models, but I'm not sure how they stack up against the '02 on models. Eibach may have made some additional changes for the newer models, too.

You might try Wigwam saab in RI, who handles nordic stuff. Donny probably has a side by side comparison on the newer models. I'm vaguely remembering an eibach equipped '02 aero which was stiffer/lower than stock, but I could be wrong. The car I'm thinking of had 18" wheels, which would have made a difference, but still had oem aero bars, struts, and shocks. It seemed firmer to me, but a clearance problem waiting to happen, and I stayed with the stock aero drop instead.
