I prefer the silver. I have had my silver 2001 Aero for just over three weeks now and the silver really shows the fine lines and bodywork details so well. I still walk away after parking it, look back and have to remind myself that this really is my car! Do a test yourself. Sit in a nice silver 9-5 then walk out and check out the front view of the car from about 5 to 10 yards away. The grille on the car set in a silver body really looks spectacular. You'll fall in love. There are, it's true, lots of silver cars out there, but none I suggest have the sharp look of a clean new silver 9-5 when viewed from the front.

That being said, the steel grey did catch my eye the first time I saw it. It was my favorite for a time. I almost went for it, but my girlfriend (now fiancee) wanted me to go for the silver instead since her old rusted clunker (80s Chrysler Lebaron) was a grey similar to the 9-5 steel grey and she didn't want to be reminded of that car everytime she saw me in my new Aero!

So I caved and I am glad I have the silver, but people are right about the steel grey being more unique. It still seems to me that the silver shows the lines of the car better than darker colors (blue and black. I haven't really examined the car from different angles in steel grey so I don't know if the fine bodywork details are lost in that color like they are in black.

On another note you might also consider how whichever color you choose will look with your wheel choice. While most here on this board seem to lust after the BBS wheels (which are nice) I couldn't see spending extra for them given the unique look of the Standard Aero wheels(Klingon wheels as they call them here). Especially in silver those Klingon wheels look great I think. I didn't see the need to spend over a grand more for a BBS wheel design that is more commonly seen on other vehicles. I miss the BBS wheel design my mom had on her late 80s model BMW 325i but none since then have really done it for me. I do however admit that those BBS wheels really look good on a black Aero.

Either way you're getting a beautiful car that will turn heads at stoplights. Just be sure to observe the engine break in period and don't peel away leaving the gawkers in your dust during the first 2000 miles!
