Sad Night -- Saab Rear-ended - Sob

Was jarred awake last night by a loud crash in front of my house. A young man apparently fell asleep driving his Chevy picukup at 3:30AM on his way home, and plowed into my 2001 Saab 9-5 Sedan at about 40+mph. (I normally don't park in the street, but I did last night.) The rear-end is pretty well crumbled to the edge of the rear-window. Amazing that with a full tank of fuel there were no leaks. The interior of the car was fine - so if there had been passengers they would have survived albeit with whatever whiplash that might have occurred. The only exception is that the radio wound up on the floor in the passenger foot well - must not have been fully seated, or the force was enough to break the connection mechanism.
Got to belive that the car is totalled - but will have to wait out the State Farm inspection next week. The car was in beautiful condition at 50K, purring like a kitten, and I had just waxed it two weeks ago. I had been wanting to hold out to make my next 9-5 purchase when the next version was released in a couple of years. Will now plan on getting a new 2004, unless I spot a sharp 2001/2002.
The upside is that no one was injured, the driver of the pickup walked away OK (metal can always be replaced). And, the real life crash test performance is testament to Saab safety engineering.
