While at Tor's Saab in Lompoc today having my '98 900S serviced I had an opportunity to take a new 2001 9-5 Aero out alone- I didn't
miss this chance! Very impressed indeed, it's "of a piece" like no
other Saab I've driven. Sneaky fast motor (this had an automatic)
and really composed suspension. My left leg, all 39" of it, so us-
ed to being cramped in an NG9's footwell, took awhile to unravel and explore the far reaches of the Aero's...in itself reason enou-
gh to love this car! There's no hiding the fact that it's a larger
automobile but the superb chassis dynamics would make it way more
than a match for my Abbottized NG900. Quite exquisite really. Grey
metallic paint is elegant AND stealthy. Can I borrow the thing for
my 600-mile drive from San Luis Obispo to Flagstaff AZ next week?
Dream on, but maybe SOMEday...
