Whether you go w/ Thule or Yakima, makes little difference anymore, sonce BOTH will accept accessories from the other. I have a Yak box, but run Thule racks EXCLUSIVELY, because I know them, and they have never let me down (using 12 yr old bike mounts for my Bridgestone MB-0, & Serotta Legend CSI).
I have had my roofrack ripped from my Jetta twice (NEITHER by me, once dealer, once wife) & never had a problem with the bike getting hurt.
For ease of use, I recommend the upright mount (do not need to remove front wheel), for more security & aerodynamics (for our AERO wagons!), I recommend the fork-mount.
Check our sponsers, you can get the Saab (Thule) rack for $102, + mounts for $75-$100 depending.
I have had up to 4 bikes on my rack,(on Jetta) and while it has the aerodynamics of a hummer, the safety of the racks still holds true.
Anybody run a fairing on their wagons?
Good luck, & I will be getting the thule for my Aero wagon.
