If you mean "shocks", i.e. rears, I just did them yesterday (twice) and it's pretty easy on the 9-5's. Twice, because I'm mentally challenged and left the second lock nut off them (Konis) and noticed the nuts in the box right after I'd finished the job and torqued the final wheel bolt and had to remove them both again. (smart, huh?) Note that the OE Sachs used one nylon lock nut, unlike the Konis.
Basically, you remove the wheels, there are 4 bolts holding the coil/shock housing to the body, loosen all four, then remove the bottom shock bolt, then remove the two bottom bolts that you just loosened, holding onto the coil, so it doesn't slip out and drop on the floor, then remove the assembly. Now the assembly is on the floor/bench, compress the springs 'til there's play at the ends, and remove the top nut, holding the shaft fixed with a crescent wrench or other (use new nuts on install). Be sure to note the order the hardware comes off. Install in reverse order and bolt them up. Note: there's a little rounded metal insert on passenger side left bottom bolt of the 4 that protects the coil housing's sharp edges from puncturing adjacent stuff. If it slips off and ends up on the floor, that's where it goes. According to WIS, the 4 housing bolts are torqued to 40 ft-lbs, the bottom shock bolt is 140 ft-lbs. I think WIS says to use new bottom shock bolts but I reused the old (?).
Haven't done the struts yet, so can't help.
