There might be octane issues. MPGs in the highway different? If MPGs are lower, calculate the MPG cost per gallon of the 87 octane to compute its true cost.
The lower octane fuels will probably create more combustion chamber deposits and those can form hot spots and increase octane requirements. So the impact could also take time to develop. Injector deposits can also be more severe too. So watch for a developing loss of MPGs.
And in hot weather, thats when the octane issue could become more significant.
So lower octane and less addatives to combat deposits that higher compression engines need.
More Techron needed I would guess.
After a while tell your wife that the low octane fuel has damaged the engine and that you need a $2000 in parts from genuinesaab.com to fix it!
