There must be some law somewhere that ensures that birds poop on your car right after carwashes, and you'll always get some freak scratches on your car in the first month of ownership. Just bought my first Saab (3wks ago), and absolutely was falling in love with it.

Tonight, after a long day of work (after 2AM), I found shattered glass all over my hood and on top of my car. It was strange, since there was no damage to my car, thus eliminating attempted theft or hit and run. As I did a quick walk around my car, I realized that the glass came from a broken street lamp right above my car. So while I was busy working, somehow the glass covering on the street lamp shattered, and rained debris all over my new love.

The annoying thing is, there's no large dents... just a lot of little scratches on my hood and my windshield. I say annoying, since if the damages were greater, its a no brainer to take a claim and fix it. Now I'm wondering if fixing these cosmetic blemishes are worth my $500 deductible.

Since the street lamp is owned by the city of LA, maybe I should ask them to pay for it. But knowing my luck, and the economic condition of LA and CA, I doubt the city will 'pay out' anything.

Well, I think thats enough venting... I think I'll go turn on the sport mode, and drive around till I forget my ill fortunes. By the way, the moral of this story is don't work so dang late! It can cost you plenty.
