Well...as I've mentioned before on this board...I picked up my new Arc wagon 2 weeks ago. Love the car...but troubled by a couple things. I notice a bang noise pretty consistently as I come out of hard (90 degree) left hand turns. It was definitely coming from passenger side wheel well. Not a loud noise but something was hitting in this (very common) manuever. I generally like the way the car performs, love the turbo (no lag-it's a 5 speed manual), but the suspension seemed a bit rough, as did cornering.

I finally got around to going into the dealership. A tech went for a ride with me. I simulated the problem. He said..."Oh I know what that is...pull over"...he looks under car and asked me to go back to dealership. He then tells me the 'transport bushings' were never removed. (These are rubber pieces that are installed in the springs at the factory for shipping). These are typically removed on arrival at dealers. Tech said these should have come off; also commented that I'll notice an improvement in the suspension.

Back at dealership...Charles River Saab...they spent about 10 minutes on car...washed it... and gave it back.

The difference in handling is amazing. I just can't believe I've been driving the car for 2 weeks with the transport bushings in place! Although I am relieved that there wasn't a serious 'problem' with the car..a bit surprised that the dealer overlooked this.
Charles River is one the the premier dealerships and I'm very happy with their service so far. The excuse was that the car was a swap with another dealer (in order to meet my specs) and they were surprised that other dealer didnt take them off right away.

Anyway, I guess this story isn't so interesting...but I had to tell someone ...and yeah... I'm sure it will happen to others at some point.

The tapping noise is gone, the steering and suspension are markedly improved, and road noise has decreased significantly.
