No, you can def. do this on your own. It only requires taking a few screws out (using the tools that came w/ the car) and simply popping the aluminium out (it has several areas where it snaps into place). To access the screws you must remove the ashtray/binnacle there, the ACC system, stereo, and finally the SID unit. These all pop out from behind. I think there might be a screw or two behind the headlight switch, as well (also pops out from behind). In order to remove the dash, you'll need to take the plasic pieces that are just behind the sterring wheel off, for clearance. There is a screw underneath that (on the area just behind the steering wheel). You can then take the turn signals/wiper stalk out of their "tracts" and let them hang, for the proper clearance. The only thing I remember being a bit wary of was the area just above the gauges (tachometer, etc.). This is one of the areas where it snaps into place, but requires a bit of extra care when removing it. Once you start you'll see that it's pretty self-explanatory. Hope this helps.
