low oil pressure on braking

Yesterday the oil pressure light came on, after braking. The light would go out again after a second. This was after about 40 minutes of commute. After that it got worse with the light staying on during idling. I stopped the car for 10 minutes and tried again. I got home without any more lights coming on. I called the dealer, and they said it sounds like low oil level, but I checked it and it is fine. Although I find this dipstick very hard to read. I have had this 00 V6 wagon for 3 months now, and don't know the exact oil change history, but the sticker on the windshield indicates the car is due right around now.
I'm stumped. It is indeed just like low oil level I remember from my old Fiat, but the level is fine. Could this be sludge build up? A bad sender? Any input appreciated, before I take it to the dealer on Monday.
