BREAK light housing is a very appropriate term, at least for the sedan.
I broke mine replacing a bulb, being VERY careful I thought. The two rear plastic tabs are wafer thin. If all the engagement points (2 front, 2 back) aren't lined up exactly, chances are pretty good you'll break a tab. There's almost no feedback via clicks, snaps, alignment points etc to give anything away. Not a forgiving design, by any means.
(OK, could I do it again without beaking anything? Sure, but what a bother)
I'd suggest supporting the clamshell with one hand and inserting a small screwdriver tip into one rear tab slot 'til you feel the clamshell drop a bit on that side, then, still supporting the clamshell, repeat on the opposite tab slot. Then pull the clamshell forward a hair, keeping it horizontal, til it disengages from the front bracket slots. (then catch it)
Rather than buy another substandard plastic tab bracket or fabricate a functional one, I rethought the assembly to make it pretty much idiot-proof, with carefully trimmed velcro strips along the entire width of the inside-back of the clamshell and the black part of the window. It holds fine and invisible to the eye.
In short, that is the most gawdawfully underdesigned retaining bracket(s) I think I've ever had the displeasure of fiddling with.
(Hopefully, that snap-prone ACC shaft was redesigned for 02)
