I believe that the 9-5 is just as capable of attaining milege in the quarter to half-million range as the C900. Some of the models foibles are time-dependent - like the SID, while others are more dependent on age and use. High mileage often correlates to long distance highway driving, which spares the brakes, starter, transmission, and to some extent reduces the tendency for sludge in the engine. Cars like that are wonderful - you are buying at a deep discount, but the remaining life is disproportionately large. Conversely, heavy daily urban use, with frequent stops, can build mileage and be hard on all of the above. The best advice is to assess the condition of the car as it sits, and keep up with a rigorous maintenance schedule.
