DIY Turbo Replacement

Hi,
I've just had the dreaded call from the dealer - my '98 2.3 has a seized
turbo. The estimated repair bill is GBP1250, or $2300 for the Yanks :) Now's really not a good time for this. Local specialists will sell me a
new turbo for GBP500, but this being my first turboed car I know nothing
about them. Is it as simple as unbolting the old one and bolting the new
one in its place, or is there some setup required? Also, what's the access
like - does the rad have to come out etc?
Cheers,
Andy.
