All rotors are basic cast iron. They are all machined on CNC machines and are very accurate and consistant. Rotors from Saab are no different, except for some plating of the non-swept hub area that has cosmetic benefits only.
A few reports of a problems with aftermarket rotors does not mean that all or a specific brand is inferior to Saabs rotors. Also note that folks have problems with Saab rotors as well. And many times, a rough rotor is cause by deposits from the pads and the rotor is not warped. Rotors can be warped by improper wheel bolt torque as well.
Many many folks have used nothing but aftermarket rotors and have no complaints at all.
Best pads and rotors? Aftermarked rotors for the cost. EBC pads are great for folks who understand them. But I would not recommend them to a non-knowledgeable owner. They need to be treated right and understood. They are not for everyone. That been said... I love them.
