I first changed the oil on mine at 5,000 miles and also opened up the oil filter. Lots of metal debris in there!
These cars have been filled with synthetic at the factory for a few years now, but it's not a bad idea to change it out early to get these wear metals out sooner.
With a long life synthetic oil like the SAAB 0W-30, Mobil 1 0W-40, Amsoil 0W-30, German Castrol 0W-30, Delvac 1/M1 5W-40, or Redline 5W-30/5W-40, I'd go with a 7,500 mile interval. This fits in neatly halfway between the 15,000 mile "freebie" oil change on the '04+ models.
So this means a 1,000 mile oil change, followed by 7,500, 15,000, and every 7,500 miles thereafter using one of those oils.
BUT if your driving is very severe (eg, all short trips in cold weather) you might want to consider sticking with the previous "severe schedule" of every 5,000 miles.
