Just a heads up on the chance this BBS wheel story might be of help to anybody out there:

A month ago I puchase a 23k '01 Aero wagon - 2 piece BBS wheels, stick, the works, really nice car. 1 year of factory bumper top bumper warranty remaining. The car was a lease return out of Pa., and the rims had some early corrosion (flaking too), so I called Saab's 800 # to ask if they would warranty them...I was told they wouldn't because the rims "had their own warranty" - 16k / 1 year was a full replacement, and 25k / 2 year was a pro-rated replacement. Since my car was 3 years old, I was outside of their time frame and I was S.O.L.

I decided to go ahead and ask the service tech at our local dealership to look at the wheels to see if anything could be done. It took him about 2 seconds of looking to tell me: "I'm 99% sure we can do it". Per his instruction I called him 2 days later and he had a new set of BBS rims awaiting me at the dealership. This Thursday I have an appointment to have them installed.

Another side bar: I did not buy this car at this dealership. I bought it from a private garage that specializes in Saab and Volvo repair. They typically have 8 or 10 Saabs for sale at any given time on their lot, and this one caught my eye. The car was bought at auction from Saab finance.

Needless to say, I'm pretty impressed with this tech and the dealership.

Like my dad always taught me: "if you don't ask, you don't get."
