adding an FM modulator - what a pain!

the design of the radio cage is nice, radio pushes right into the connectors and din antenna plug - UNTIL you want to splice an FM modulator into the antenna plug.
A standard dogleg motorola female - din male adapter works fine except that you have to modify the cage to do it. Didn't want to cut sheet metal from the cage so that I could go back to stock if need be some day, so I ended up buying a run of the mill conduit/pipe bracket of correct diameter and just barely bolting it up to the back, after recessing the cage metal a bit with a socket and a wack. It manages to hold the adapter firmly in the center of the access hole, so that the radio mates when pushed in, just like the stock connector.
Sounds trivial I know, but after a full afternoon's work I feel like I just finished redesigning the pickup arm on a moon rover or something.
