I notice that my '03 aero with 20K miles on it is surging and sometimes hard to start. Makes me wonder if the DI is sending me signals.
Carrying a spare, while outrageous for an expensive car like this, will get you home after it fails. But it doesn't keep you from a dangerous situation. I drive the Mass Pike, often at rush hour. I'm trying to picture going along at 70 mph then a sudden, total loss of power. If you had to tap the brakes you'd bleed off your speed, then you're sitting there like a target. You could get killed.
Last week an older lady stalled her Corolla in the middle lane of the Pike at night in a rainstorm. She was rear-ended by a truck. On the news it looked like the biggest pieces would fit in your pocket.
I really wish Saab would come clean about this and solve the problem.
