New Aero (720 miles) is in the shop for second overnight with a dead A/C. When I picked it up from Mike Lynch on the 17th, the weather was cool down there and rainy, so it was several days after that before I realized the A/C wasn't doing anything. No faults reported on calibration (several tries).
A few days ago it got into the low 100s here in L.A. So, I took it in to the local dealer in Pasadena to get the A/C sorted out (the same dealer who ironically had the car in their inventory for a few months until Mike found it for me and had it trucked down to his shop for me to buy it there). Incidentally, the IRIS service record shows this dealer did a pre-delivery inspection in February.
After having the car for two days so far, the very nice Saab service writer Ana (not Ann, the one who has been there for the last few years) told me the tech has been on the line with Saab Service for hours (I guess that is some kind of Saab tech help line) and everything they tell him to do, he does, but nothing works. In her words, there is "an open circuit to ground" that nobody can trace down.
Has anyone had or heard of anything like this - if so, I may pass any suggestions along to them.
I'm stopping by tomorrow to swap the 14mpg DeVille land yacht Enterprise rent-a-loaner for a proper Saab loaner, so I may learn more then if I get a chance to talk to the tech.
Still love the car, happy with purchase decision, etc., (after seven Saabs I know what the word "quirk" means).
Stay tuned.
/Geoff
