Hi Pat. Yes it is-Cleveland, the salt capitol of the planet it would appear. Hoping to set the driveline on the floor today. This thing scares me. I had to go yank a C900 driveline out in an hour and a half to rebuild my confidence. Not sure what direction I'll take yet. I probably can't answer the B234 question unless I tear them both down and really carefully compare them side-by-side. I know the crank is the same but the pistons are shorter in the 235 with the rods being longer. It's a shame Saab insists on the rape-pricing of oversized pistons given the increasingly widespread need ($68 for std, $201 for oversize). I have a friend at a dealership that said he can get them with rings for $175 each. That's still outrageous but, at the end of the day, I'd rather put the money into a rebuild than into an engine that I know nothing about and would feel compelled to still rip patially apart for preventative exam/de-sludging. #4 cyl is scuffed but it looks like it's well within +0.5mm or +1.0 mm. No hole burned through the piston but it might be melted on the periphery.

Thanks for your help, Pat. Drop me a line-you'll get a kick out of what the Blazer's problem was, fixed in the Bone Zone parking lot, no less. It's just as well I didn't get your last name there. I probably would have bent you ear 'til noon in spite of my predicament.
