is too great. Sort of a failsafe against lugging the engine, I have not tried it yet in snow or dry conditions, but my guess is if you tried to start off in 2nd or 3rd, it will downshift right down to 1st. I noticed that when I'm in manual mode and say I am in 3rd and start to go up a steep hill, as soon as the revs get below say 1800 it drops to 2nd. Whats the point of having a manual mode, at the very least it should drop down when the knock sensors say so, not at 1800, sheesh!
