Thanks to the terrific responsiveness on this bb, I walked in with all the notes, all the psyche issues resolved (ready to walk if they wouldn't dance, etc.), drove the 9-3, 9-5 Arc sedan, 9-5 Aero sedan, and then again the 9-3 (wife liked it's nimbleness, we both liked the re-designed interiors compared to the 9-5).
Opted for the 9-5 Arc, white with beige interior (best for LA driving), sat down with my man and "Big Martin" the manager (well...the Martin part was right). They had already affirmed that the $5k was still in force, then said that a basic sled with Auto (which I wanted) was $36,237 and that they "would need $500 over invoice to start with."
"Ah yes, I intoned, but I have my "GM Family First" authorization num..." "Oh! Why didn't you say so at the beginning! Here, let me rip this up and start again...well of COURSE you get all these great breaks and more..."
Actually, the process was pretty painless, since there was no trade in to discuss, I was paying cash, yadda yadda.
Net net...out the door for $29,373k, before the $2.4k tax, $245 registration, and $5 Title Fee (wtf??? I knew the state was in trouble, but puhleeze...).
Think where I woulda been without Saabnet!. Class act, folks!
Um...thoughts on extended warranties? I've read about avoiding Named Component plans...
